The CHS Outing in S.3 (2010)

All our Secondary 3 students went on a study tour, ‘Search for the Modern Hong Kong History’, on 13th and 14th January, 2010. The tour was jointly organized by the National Education Centre and St. James Welfare Society. The students were divided into four groups, with each visiting a different historical site. The four sites are Sun Yat-sun historical trial in Central, Tai-Po and Sai Kung Heroes in Sino-Japanese War II, Ping Shan Heritage Trail in Yuen Long, and Wai Chai Old Building Heritage.

Three of the tours lasted for a whole day and one a half day.

The effective presentations of the historical sites given by tour guides enabled
the students to enjoy their trips to the full. The worksheets provided to them also helped to consolidate what they had learnt in their trips.

Although Hong Kong is only a small part of China, it undoubtedly plays an important role in the Modern History of our country. There are plenty of precious historical sites for us explore. Through joining the tour, the students can know more about our motherland and the city they are living in. It definitely helps strengthen our sense of belonging as Chinese people.
